Team Gonzo -
Mongol Rally 2008
On the 19th of July 2008 two madmen from Norwich (Robert Mercer & Steven Fancy) - collectively known as Team Gonzo - are joining up with around 300 other teams in Hyde park, London to make final preparations before embarking on the mighty Mongol Rally.
Team Gonzo is dedicating it’s efforts in this venture to the late great Dr Hunter S Thompson and in true gonzo spirit awaits with baited breath the lunacy, madness, excitement and angry men with guns that this trip will surely bring and will be flying the flag (literally) for the gonzo way.
WARNING: Use with great caution, this recipe has the potential for complete and utter mayhem.
Ingredients
2 x Madmen
1 x Well matured Fiat Panda
16 x Countries
9000 x Miles
2 x Great Charities
1 x Destination (Ulaan Bataar)
and a frisbee |
Method
- Firstly, take the two madmen and place in a Norfolk pub until they are lightly sozzled and agree to do something stupid.
- Now extract them from the pub and put on ice.
- About a year later remove them from the ice and watch in amusement as organised chaos ensues.
- After around 6 months place the two madmen in the Fiat Panda in a park in London and send them off towards Ulaan Bataar via the 16 countries and 9000 miles.
- Use the frisbee as and when needed to relieve stress and tension from the mix.
- Finally, donate the money raised to the two great charities and hope that the madmen manage to find the adventure the're looking for and live to tell the tale.
